Basic info for brewers:

-Entry fee is $10 for 1 brew, $15 for 2+ brews (multiple). Pay securely using Paypal or send a check, payable to Downingtown Library to 122 Wallace Ave. Downingtown, PA 19335

-This is not a bottle drop off competition. You will be asked to serve your brew at a table for the public. You must be present on October 26th between 12pm and 5pm. Entrants will need to provide their own ice chests for bottles or kegs. Entrants will also need to provide their own rinse station. The public will be provided 5 oz mini mugs.

-Entrants will be provided a table and chair for pouring 2 oz servings to the public, beer judges, and other entrants. (The chairs provided are metal folding chairs. If you have some more comfortable chairs it would be recommended to bring them.) The location is Minquas Fire Station No. 2 (141 Wallace Ave. in Downingtown) and will be both indoors and in the front “parking lot”. The bay doors will be open (with good weather.) We have a few canopy tents but if you can bring one it would be much appreciated. Entrants are expected to pour their own brew, or arrange for a proxy to do so. This way the entrant can brag/educate the public about their creation.

-Multiple entries allowed. 1 entry = 5 gallon batch (kegged or bottled)

Additional event details:

1st place $400, 2nd place $200, 3rd place $75. Peoples’ Choice winner’s recipe to be made and sold by local brewery (to be determined.) (Recipe subject to change or substitutions.) Additional special award winners will be given gift cards to local businesses.

The designed purpose of the D-Town Brew-Down home brew competition is to raise money for the Downingtown Library- 100% of any profits will go directly to the Downingtown Library, a 501 (c) 3 organization. (EIN: 23-1440113)

We would also like to showcase the art of making some good brew!  We will have live demonstrations and encourage entrants to discuss any part of their process to the public if they choose.

12:00pm: Entrants must be completely set up.
12:00-12:30pm: Reserved for brewers to sample each others’ brews.
1:00pm: Brew-Down begins.
4:30pm: the tasting will be over for the public (People’s Choice) a
Around 5:00pm: Winners announced.

Details to come: David Houseman, a nationally recognized, grand master, professional judge has offered to give a presentation on how to make better beer to all the entrants before the event begins. There is not set time as of now but it will most likely be around 11am.

Beer will be judged (by official judges) according to what the entrant says it is supposed to be or variation there of.

We are thrilled that 400 children signed up for our Elementary School Summer Reading Quest in record time! We previously closed registration due to limited resources. However, we are excited to REOPEN registrations so all children can join. We have long wait lists for programs and limited selection in our Summer Reading Store but come read with us for 2019 Summer Quest!
