Friends of the Library

The mission of the Friends of the Downingtown Library is to promote and support the programs and operations of the library through a variety of fundraisers, most notably the semi-annual book sales, as well as through community outreach. In 2019, the Friends contributed nearly $18,000 to the Downingtown Library.

Friends Update – Summer  2022

The Friends’ Spring Book Sale was another outstanding success. We had the help of many in the community, including the Parks Department, Minquas Fire Department, High School and Girl Scouts volunteers, as well as  volunteers from our neighboring schools who coordinated additional book collections. We experienced what seemed to be a deluge of donated books from so many of our patrons. The new recruits we’d sought out, during our previous Book Sale, were on hand this time to help us sort, stack, and set up. This was an all-hands-on-deck Book Sale and our proceeds now serve the Library’s needs.

Twenty of the Friends gathered for our June meeting. It was an opportunity to meet our new Library director, Lauren. In addition to the business matters of the meeting, a sincere thank you was offered to our Book Sale organizers, Bunny, Eileen, and Dave, for their leadership and dedication. Refreshments
