Children’s Services Challenge Grant
The Downingtown Library Board of Directors announced today that an anonymous donor has issued a $25,000 challenge grant, giving $5,000 a year for a period of 5 years if the Library can secure $10,000 a year in pledges from the community for the next 5 years- the amount needed to fund a full-time Children’s Librarian. The Board of Directors appeals to all Library supporters to sign a pledge as soon as possible, so that the Library can achieve this goal as quickly as possible. Pledges can be any amount- even as low as $100 per year will make a difference! Pledge forms are also available at the Library. Please send pledge forms and payments to Downingtown Library, 122 Wallace Ave. Downingtown PA, 19335, or email pledge form to ehess@ccls.org, and make an online payment. (Choose “Children’s Services Fund” from the drop-down menu, enter amount of yearly pledge, and set “Donation Frequency” to “Annually,” or whatever you prefer.)

Did you know that only about half of our annual budget comes from governmental sources (Municipal, County, and State) with the other half coming from private donations? We are so grateful for the donations our patrons give us year after year- we couldn’t do it without you!
There are many ways to give to the Downingtown Library. Through one-time or recurring donations to our Annual Giving Campaign, through a dedicated gift to support children’s programming, adult programming, the purchase of materials for the borrowing collection, or for general supplies, through sponsorship/attendance at annual fundraising events like February’s Whisky-Tasting Event, July’s “Links for the Library” golf tournament, October’s “D-Town Brew-Down” home-brewed beer competition and festival, and much more.
“Name a Shelf” and “Adopt a Book” programs
You can also support the Downingtown Library through the “Name a Shelf” program! For $100, choose a shelf to honor a loved one or special event with your choice of inscription engraved on a brass label for a period of 1 year. For $1000, your shelf will be permanently dedicated. Please fill out the “Name a Shelf” sign-up form and either mail it back to Downingtown Library (122 Wallace Ave. Downingtown, PA, 19335) or email it to ehess@ccls.org. You can pay by sending in a check or paying online (see button below.) Please choose “Name a Shelf- 1 year” or “Name a Shelf- lifetime” from the drop-down menu when paying online!
Another unique gift opportunity that also supports the Downingtown Library is the “Adopt a Book” program- for $35, choose a new book with a bookplate inscribed with your choice of message!
