The mission of the Friends of the Downingtown Library is to promote and support the programs and operations of the library through a variety of fundraisers, most notably the semi-annual book sales, as well as through community outreach. In 2022, the Friends contributed $19,000 to the Downingtown Library.

Friends Update – Spring 2023
The Friends were gratified to realize that our Fall Book Sale had been another outstanding success!
So many in our community can be counted on, time and again, to help us with the Sale. There was the usual assistance from the Parks Department, Minquas Fire Department, and High School volunteers. There was a huge outpouring from our neighboring schools, allowing the children and their families to participate in this huge endeavor. Attendance was overwhelming on Friday evening of the Sale and continued at a steady pace through the weekend. The Sale continued through the following week and then on to our ever popular Bag Sale. Our Book Sales are referred to as an all-hands-on-deck event for good reason. Once again, our ever greater proceeds will serve the Library’s needs.
We’re in the planning stages of our Spring Book Sale. At our February meeting, we feted Bunny, Eileen, and Dave for all their hard work coordinating the Sales, these many years. The baton was passed to JoAnn and Michelle, who will be leading our efforts for this next Book Sale.
