Did you know that only about half of Downingtown Library’s annual budget comes from governmental sources (municipal, county, and state) with the other half coming from private donations? We are so grateful for the donations our patrons give us year after year—we couldn’t do it without you! Contributions of every size add up to help our librarians choose materials, create programs, and improve our spaces.
There are many ways to give to the Downingtown Library: one-time or recurring donations to our Annual Giving Campaign; a dedicated gift to support children’s programming or adult programming; building fund donations help us keep our building and furniture in good repair; miscellaneous gifts fund the purchase of materials for the borrowing collection or for general supplies—all of these benefit the library.

Employee Giving and Payroll Deduction
Employee giving provides companies a simple and efficient way to support the Downingtown Library through one-time gifts or payroll deductions. The Downingtown Library’s EIN is 23-1440113.

Donations can also be made to the Downingtown Library through United Way of Chester County. Please use the name “The Downingtown Library” as your donor choice organization. There is no identification number needed.
For United Way of Greater Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ), the donor choice designation code is #6565.
For United Way of Delaware, the donor choice designation code is #1245.
Donor Advised Funds
A Donor Advised Fund is a flexible gift option that allows you to recommend how much and how often money is granted to the Downingtown Library. There are several ways you can use a Donor Advised Fund (DAF) to make a gift to the Downingtown Library:
- You can use your Donor Advised Fund to direct a gift to our general campaign.
- You can create your legacy at the Downingtown Library by naming your loved ones as a successor to continue the recommended grants to the Downingtown Library.
- Or you can name the Downingtown Library as a beneficiary to receive all or part of your Donor Advised Fund.
